How we Communicate with Ballard Students & Families

Schoology: Classroom Resources
Parents and students use Schoology to see assignments, teacher announcements, reminders and calendars. Schoology is the primary communication tool used for assignments and class details.
Schoology Tips
- Parents/Guardians if you don’t have a Schoology Account | To create a Schoology account, you will need your Schoology Access Code, found in the Source to get started.

- If you have a Schoology Account | Logon to Schoology to view your Student’s Courses.

The Source Student & Family Resource

The primary way that parents and students can check on their grades, attendance, complete the online data verification form and the Source has a link as well to SchoolPay, which is an easy way to electronically pay for school-related fees (ASB fees, Yearbook).
Principal Communications
Friday updates and other time‐sensitive, critical announcements are sent via School Messenger (Abby Hunt BallardHS@seattleschools.org) to Ballard HS Families. Note: All Ballard HS families are automatically on the distribution list for School Messenger (learn more about School Messenger).
If you are not receiving these messages from School Messenger please check your profile in SchoolMessenger as well as your spam folder. Call the Main Office at 206-252-1000 if you have any questions. If interested, download the School Messenger App, especially for additional languages.
School Website: Announcements, Bell Schedules, Resources For Students & Families
The BHS website provides up to date news and information. Keep up with the latest announcements, bell schedules, calendar events, featured news by topic, as well as the daily school announcements/bulletin, BHS student clubs, performing arts events, athletics and sports clubs and resources conveniently from any desktop or mobile device. Ballard HS PTSA Weekly Newsletter
The BHS PTSA Weekly Newsletter is a PTSA member volunteer-run informational newsletter that is emailed to current families on Sunday evenings with important upcoming information as well as athletics, sports clubs, library events, performing arts, student spirit weeks, club information, community news, and more! Ballard Performing Arts Weekly Newsletter and BPA Website
The Ballard Performing Arts (BPA) Weekly Newsletter is a BPA member volunteer run informational newsletter that is emailed to subscribed families and students with important upcoming Performing Arts information. Progress Reports/Report Cards
The Source is the online platform where families access their student’s daily attendance, assessment scores, and Secondary student grades. All Report Cards and Progress Reports will be available to families logging onto the parent or guardian Source account following the end of each term. Please reach out to your BHS Counselor if you require a paper copy.
Performing Arts Remind App
The Ballard Performing Arts Boosters use the Remind App as it provides a one-way texting system to keep students and families in the loop for all activities and events. It’s easy to sign up for any and all groups you need to track during the school year, and receive important messages via text. Note: Codes are changed each year.

BHS School Social Media Accounts

Additional ways to connect are to follow us on our Social Media accounts to stay informed with the latest happenings. In addition, SPS, PTSA and Performing Arts each have a Facebook account. Note: Students are not required to have social media accounts to receive school information or participate in school activities.
Talking Points Text Messages: Important Announcements
Text messages can also be sent via Talking Points to Ballard HS families. Talking Points is a two-way translated texting option for schools to communicate with families.
Microsoft Teams Classrooms & Community
Students, teachers, and staff can interact in virtual classrooms using Microsoft Teams districtwide to support remote learning. A consolidated calendar is available to view as well. Teams integrates with our existing systems and learning platforms, including Schoology.
