Running of the Beavers Details March 21, 2026
The Running of the Beavers Event begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the beautiful Golden Gardens Park. Take a relaxing walk, leisurely jog, or a brisk run while enjoying the incomparable views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains along the mostly flat course on Seaview Avenue.
All registrants will get a Running of the Beavers race shirt to sport around town. Fun Run participants are encouraged to avoid the lines and pick up their race shirt and bib number at Ballard High School on Friday, March 20 outside the Main Office from 4-6 p.m. (You can have your student or parent/guardian also pick up your materials for you.) You can also pick up your shirt/bib on race day but it’s convenient to have it the day before. Help support our neighborhood partners by bringing nonperishable food donations for Ballard Food Bank to the bib pickup and/or on race day.
Sponsored by the Ballard High School Foundation, in partnership with the Athletic Booster Club (ABC), the Running of the Beavers also serves as a fundraiser for Ballard Athletics, Performing Arts, Cheer or Dance. The Pep Band will perform during warm ups and socializing, while the Cheer Team will inspire you as you follow Bucky out of the starting gate, pass the midway point, circle around Beaver Pond, and head for the finish line.
Pick which team or program you’d like your ticket proceeds to go to. (Teams and programs receive a percentage of registration fees, as a result of the race administration costs.)
Adult ticket prices, now at $30/participant, go up another $5 starting January 31, 2026, so now’s the perfect time to sign up.
Are you a Ballard student or teacher? Sign up for only $20/participant! (Staff discount code is available in the Main Office.) Also, the grade level with the most participation gets $500 for their ASB class account! The freshmen class won the Class Competition at the 2025 event.

The Ballard High School Foundation provides financial support for wellness and activities at Ballard High School. The 5K Walk/Run will start and finish at the beautiful Golden Gardens Park along the Ballard waterfront. You’ll enjoy stunning views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains on this fast, flat course.
Sponsored by the Ballard High School Foundation, the Running of the Beavers is a 5K Fun Run and Walk. Proceeds directly benefit Ballard Athletics, Cheer, Dance and Band. The finish takes you by the famous Beaver Pond at Golden Gardens. Escape the city as you run/walk along the shores of Puget Sound and help raise funds for the Ballard High School Foundation which supports Ballard High School students and staff.
