Black History Month | Happy Day One of Black History Month and Black Lives Matter at School Week. This month we celebrate 100 years of Black History Month. In 1926, historian Carter G. Woodson launched Black (Negro) History Week. The Goal was simple: Teach Black history accurately and consistently. In 1976, Black History Week became Black History Month. February 2026 marks 100 years of nationwide Black history commemoration. Black History month is still here because the record still needs correcting.
