Winter Spirit Week Dec. 15 – 19!

Come to school dressed on theme for spirit days and come support your Ballard community at performing arts, sports, and other activities after school. 

  • Monday’s theme is bundle up Monday! Wear jackets, hats, scarves, or anything to keep you extra cozy!
    • Monday night at 7:30 p.m. there is a winter band concert so come out and support the band!
    • There is a swim meet against Lincoln at the Ballard pool at 4pm today!
    • Tonight, Ballard girls’ and boys’ basketball play at Ingraham. Girl’s varsity is at 7 and boys varsity is at 8! Fill the Rams’ stands and cheer on your Beavs! 

Stop By the BHS Library Before Break

  • Don’t Get Left Out In The Cold! Beaver Readers there is “Snow Much Reading To Do” this break!
    • Book your winter break book escape and stop by the library to pick up books to read over break, you don’t want to be left out in the cold!

PTA Reflections Art Competition Due Dec. 15

  • The National PTA Reflections Art Program is open for submissions! This year’s theme is “I Belong.” The six categories are: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Submit your work in person with Mr. Harkleroad in SW110, or digitally by emailing the Ballard HS PTSA. Due by Dec. 15. More information on the PTA site!

Want to have your art displayed in the school?

  • Are you interested in having your artwork displayed in the school?
    • Art will be hung on a set of panels in the foyer by the library to be viewed at the performing arts winter concerts and throughout the school day​
    • Can be any sort of visual art that can be hung up (drawings, paintings, photography, digital art, etc.)​
    • Can be anonymous or credited​
    • A brief description of your art piece is encouraged! (optional)​
    • If you’re interested, please submit responses ASAP, we want to get your art up for the concerts in the coming weeks!! If you have any questions, please reach out to either 1pepratt@seattleschools.org ​(Autumn Pratt) or Mr. Harkleroad or scan the QR codes posted around the school.

BHS Class of 2026 Graduation: June 15, 2026
  • Date: June 15, 2026 at 5 p.m.

Additional important details including information about graduation tickets/ticket limits for ceremonies at McCaw Hall will be shared as it becomes available. 

  • Cap & Gown Orders Due

ASB Clubs

  • HOSA members, the deadline to register for competitive events is next Wednesday 12/17. Please stop by NW200 to register with Dr. Howsmon during any lunch. Failure to register by next Wednesday will result in you not being able to compete or attend the State conference.
  • GSA and ASB are sponsoring a Food Drive and clothes drop off for people affected by the government shut down. The boxes are located on the second-floor foyer next to the railing. The materials and food will be dropped off to the Ballard food bank before the break to ensure people have them for the holidays! Please donate to help those in need!
  • DECA members and community, we need judges for the AREA Competition for DECA on Jan. 8 at Lynwood Convention Center. No experience necessary and it is a fun way to see all of our young professionals in action. Ask your parents/guardians. The View the judging form. Tell them that Ballard DECA sent you!

Athletics Tryouts & Club Sports

  • Track & Field is gearing up for the spring season, and now’s your chance to join. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 outside the weight room. On MondaysWednesdays, and Fridays, sprinters and long-distance runners meet after school on the track. Everyone is welcome—come try a practice, meet the team, and experience the excitement of Track & Field. And if you enjoy it, sign up on Final Forms as soon as possible so you can receive emails from the coaches. You won’t regret it! Track and Field is one of the biggest teams at BHS for a reason!

Beaver Gear and Spirit Wear Breakdown

  • Athletic Booster Club (ABC) has Beaver Gear and spirit wear (shorts, baseball tee, bleacher seats, plaid flannels, socks, scarf and hats) on the ABC website with Duffle Bags offered at different times of the school year.
  • The DAM” BHS Student Store run by Advanced Marketing Students in the Activity Center (AC) has great spirit items (t-shirts, hoodies, sunglasses, etc.).
  • Performing Arts (BPA) spirit merchandise can be found on the BPA Website and offered at different times of the school year.
  • Athletics! Check with coaches about specific Athletics/Sports Merchandise
