Announcements

  • All are invited to a Ballard High Community Building Event in the School Library Tues, Nov. 18, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn and practice sharing circles to build trust and community.  It is an opportunity to share authentically and listen respectfully to each other in a supportive environment. This event is sponsored by the PTSA DEI Committee. Food and drinks will be provided.   Please RSVP using the QR Codes on the flyers you see around the building.
  • DECA members and friends, if you are interested in volunteering for the Seattle Marathon on Sunday, November 30, please let Ms. J know. We will be running a water table and cheering people on. There are service hours available.
  • DECA members and community, we need judges for the AREA Competition for DECA on January 8 at Lynwood Convention Center. No experience necessary and it is a fun way to see all of our young professionals in action.
  • This past summer, Mattheis Johnson, a member of our community, passed away after falling off the structure at Gas Works Park, a historical site. Members of his family and friends have taken action to remove the ladders and catwalks from the towers at Gas Works by working with The Seattle Parks and Recreation board proposing this new “safety plan.” However, the Seattle landmark board rejected the proposal due to it changing a historic landmark. As ASB, we strongly encourage that members of our school community learn more about this plan and act according to the standpoint they support. We stand with students’ rights to civic engagement. We have also posted a “Community Supporters” form in the newsletter and on our social media for those interested in supporting the group working towards the removal.
  • Are you interested in auditioning for the spring musical, Mamma Mia? Auditions will be held in the first week of Dec. and to help you prepare we will offer free dance workshops with our choreographer in the PAC each Mon. until auditions. If you would like to audition, email Ms. Miller and let her know. We hope to see you there!
