CTE March Showcase!

Ballard and Garfield Video Production Students nominated for Student Emmys!

Garfield and Ballard students had quite a showing at this years National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NW) competition!

Ballard students in Mr. Bradford’s class received many nominations in categories including News Report, Fiction Short Form and nominations in craft categories including editing, photography and writing. Check out film stills from student work entitled Seattle Music, Ticket to Yesterday, Leaving No Trace, Balancing, and Truth Wanting Forgiveness below! Congratulations to all of our students!

Ballard Senior Semai H Honored with AAMA We Show Up Award

Congratulations to Ballard Senior Semai H.(center front) who was recently honored by Seattle Public Schools! SPS’s Office of African American Male Achievement (AAMA) ended 2023 with a recognition event for students who “show up.”

The We Show Up Awards ceremony honored 12 Black students who continually pour their energy into their academics, their school, the community, and their future. Each student was recognized for their work in Kingmakers, their school’s Black Student Union, WHOLE Mentoring or AAMA’s Family Support work. 

Museum’s Pathfinder Creative Team Includes Ballard Senior Ryder W.

For over 40 years The Museum of Flight’s annual Pathfinder Awards have honored Northwest visionaries that have made significant contributions to the development of the aerospace industry. 

The Pathfinder Awards Banquet is a high-profile autumn event for the Museum that features the current year’s selection of Pathfinders. Ballard High School senior Ryder W. (left) was one of four key student members of the event’s 2023 creative team were. Pathfinder Awards co-chair Steve Taylor described the interns and their contributions to the program as “amazing.” 

The Museum internship is open to high school students if they are enrolled in one of the Museum education programs. Waltmire is a student in the Museum’s Aeronautical Science Pathway program.
