Mock Trial Team Club Students

The current year Ballard Mock Trial club participated in the YMCA Youth & Government Committee’s Mock Trial Districts Competition Feb. 24-29 at the King County Courthouse. “Typically, mock trial is taught as a formal class at most high schools, led by experienced coaches and legal experts such as attorneys and judges,” said sophomore Club Coordinator Sabi Yoon. “However, Ballard ran it as a club this year, which required a higher level of commitment from both students and teachers, as practices and meetings took place outside of school hours.” The club had numerous Saturday morning meetings at school with community judges who generously volunteered their time. The club also had to raise $800 for competition expenses. “Despite these challenges, we had a successful first year,”
