MisInfo Day Helps Students Develop Tools to Navigate Online Research
UW MisInfo Day
Ballard HS World History and Government Teacher and co-founder of Teachers for an Informed Public, Mr. Shawn Lee took his students to MisInfo Day on March 12, 2024 at the University of Washington. Also joined by Ballard Teacher-Librarian TuesD Chambers, the group heard from Professors Mike Caulfield, Kate Starbird, and so many others.
Ms. Chambers commented about the event, “What a reminder that we have so much to learn!” She appreciated the opportunity to check our frame, and ask ourselves the following question: “Does this mean what I think it means?” as a barometer.
The annual media literacy educational event, sponsored locally by UW’s Center for An Informed Public, brings together high school students, teachers and librarians to learn how to navigate complex information environments and make informed decisions about what to believe online.
Watch for information about the MisInfo Night later in the Spring. Read about the event that took place in Spring of 2022.
