    NEW Kellen “Bobo” Jones ’08 Memorial Scholarship NEW

    A $500 scholarship (per recipient) will be awarded to one male and one female BHS student athlete in their senior year that exhibit the characteristics and attributes that made Kellen Jones a successful athlete, teammate and Ballard Beaver. This scholarship may be used for any post high school vocational training, community college or four year college.
    Athletics helped Kellen build his confidence, develop leadership skills, understand the value of the team (family), the experience of others and to build honor. The focus he learned on the field or the track helped him in school. He valued all of the sports BHS offered and was a frequent spectator as well as a participant. He valued his peers. Kellen also valued and applauded hard work.

    Recommended characteristics and attributes of the scholarship recipient:

    • Excels in athletics, academic strength not necessary
    • Respects teammates, coaches and fellow athletes
    • Sportsmanship
    • Beaver Pride
    • Love for Ballard Community
    • Positive attitude

    To apply for this scholarship please provide the following information, typed or handwritten on one page, and attach a letter short of recommendation from a BHS coach.

    1. Name
    2. Post High School Plans (College, trade school, etc.)
    3. BHS Athletic teams played on
    4. A short essay explaining how you share the characteristics described of Kellen. (250 words or less)
    5. Include the following statement and your signature: “I pledge to drive and ride responsibly, and to encourage my friends and family to drive and ride responsibly, too.

    Applications may be picked up in the main office or from the Athletic Bulletin Board.
    Return completed application to the Main office mailbox of Athletic Director, Jason Thurston, no later than June 1, 2018.

    Medical Assistant Scholarship Program | Kaiser Permanente has joined with Seattle College District (SCD) and its Seattle Vocational Institute (SVI) to provide scholarships to 20 students to study medical assisting this fall.   See attached FLYER for more details.
    This program provides:

    • Scholarship and financial assistance: Full tuition, fees, books, and supplies for the 4-quarter Certificate Program. 
    • Academic support: Coaching and academic support from Seattle Central College. 
    • Mentorship and professional development: Real world experience through workshops and an internship at a medical clinic

    Full details are available at . Applicants must attend an SVI workshop (held on Wednesdays in May) and complete an online application by Friday, June 1.

    Clutch Prep High School Senior Scholarship - $750


    Clutch Prep is really excited to let you know that we’re offering a scholarship to one high school senior who demonstrates commitment and passion towards their college degree. We’d love to make an application for this scholarship available to your students. 
    Over the years, thousands of students around the nation have used to help them with their STEM courses, and we feel it's time for us to start helping them in other ways as well. 

    In order to be considered for the scholarship, the following requirements must be met:
    · Must be a high school SENIOR, graduating between April-July 2018.
    · Committed to or already enrolled in a 2-4 year accredited college or university in the United States (must show proof of acceptance letter or offer letter upon being selected).
    · Submitted application by July 31st, 2018 11:59pm.
