    Student Scholarships Website - June, July & August 


    Blacks in Government, Port of Seattle | Deadline June 7, 2019 | $1,000 scholarship toward college expenses | Awarding to two deserving students from class of 2019
    Based on academic achievements and outstanding community service.  Please see Helen in the Counseling Office to pick up an 
    application. 


    BigSun Scholarship – Deadline June 19, 2019Amount $500 | To assist young athletes succeed in the academic pursuits.  Application on website bigsunathletics.com


    Carkeek Scholarships will be available again this year to Seattle Public High School graduates. The scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Seattle Public High Schools who will be attending publicly funded institutions of higher learning within the state of Washington, including community and technical colleges. Scholarship awards are based on (1) high school scholastic achievement, (2) financial need of the student, and (3) recommendations of teachers and community leaders as to the student’s participation in school and outside activities. The Selection Committee has discretion to determine the number of recipients and the amounts awarded. The Carkeek Scholarship has been awarding scholarships to graduates of Seattle Public High School since the early 1950’s.  Attached is a scholarship application form. The completed application must be postmarked or faxed by June 10, 2019 (please do not e-mail any applications). Any application that is postmarked after June 10, 2019 will not be accepted by the Selection Committee. Any application that is not completed cannot be considered. 


    Kellen “Bobo” Jones ’08 Memorial Scholarship | A $500 scholarship (per recipient) will be awarded to one male and one female BHS student athlete in their senior year that exhibit the characteristics and attributes that made Kellen Jones a successful athlete, teammate and Ballard Beaver. This scholarship may be used for any post high school vocational training, community college or four year college. Athletics helped Kellen build his confidence, develop leadership skills, understand the value of the team (family), the experience of others and to build honor. The focus he learned on the field or the track helped him in school. He valued all of the sports BHS offered and was a frequent spectator as well as a participant. He valued his peers. Kellen also valued and applauded hard work.  View the attached Kellen Scholarship Application for more details and return to the Main office mailbox of Athletic Director, Eric Ensign, no later than May 24, 2019.  Applications are also available in the BHS Main Office, Counseling Center and on the Athletics Board in the Commons.

     


    Recovery Village Health Care Scholarship
    | Due June 30 2019

    A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study considered : counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field). Applicants must submit an essay no more than 500 words describing why they are passionate about health care, with a focus on substance abuse and mental health. Essays can draw from personal or professional experience. 


    Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program | Due June 14, 2019 Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 12th year. We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year. Scholarship Application Process - Students will submit an essay (500 to 1000 words) on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of our web site: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm Full details are available on our site. *The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.
