Grade 11 APLA, Grade 12 AP Lit & UWHS 111

Preparation for Fall 2022-23

Ballard students, If you are taking Grade 11 APLA & Composition or Grade 12 AP Literature or Grade 12 UWHS 111 (yearlong or semester) next year, you must acquire the following book before the first day of class.

Required Books

  • Grade 11 APLA (Language & Composition) – On Writing Well: The Classic Guide to Writing Nonfiction by William Zinsser [Available new or used.]
  • Grade 12 AP Lit (Literature & Composition) – How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster [Available new or used.]
  • Grade 12 UWHS 111 (semester or yearlong version) – Writer/Thinker/Maker [Available from the UW Bookstore.]

If cost is a concern, please contact ELA Dept. Head Kristin Storey at kmstorey@seattleschools.org. Note: Students are not assured a place in an AP class until they receive their schedule in Sept.
