At Ballard High School we will continue to keep administering the Smarter Balanced Assessments in ELA and Math to 10 grade students as a Federal Accountability measure and as a pathway to meet the ELA and Math proficiency requirement. Most students will continue to meet these proficiency requirements by passing the state assessments in ELA and Math.

    • SBA / ELA: The Smarter Balanced Assessment in ELA will be given to all 10 graders (11 graders who have not passed) during the week of April 27 - 30, 2020.
    • SBA / Math: The Smarter Balanced Assessment in Math will be given to all 10 graders during the week of May 18 - 20, 2020.

Note: Any Seniors who have not yet passed the exams will have the opportunity to retake the SBA exam in ELA and Math the week of March 24 - 26, 2020.

Students who do not pass one or more of these exams, will have the opportunity to retake these exams the spring of their Junior and Senior year along with any of the other graduation pathways such as taking college level courses and college admission testing.

View a full list of Graduation Pathways on the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction website. Visit the SPS SBA Assessments Information page for additional district information and the Smarter Balanced "What Parents and Students Should Know site.
