High School Boundary Update including Highly Capable and Dual Immersion Pathways

At the School Board Meeting on January 31, the board is scheduled to vote on items that have attracted significant interest from our families, students and staff: high school boundaries and high school highly capable pathways.

To review the most updated high school boundary map (Fv4.3) and potential change areas please visit the High School Boundary Changes webpage

The Board is also considering three regional highly capable pathway schools for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.

    • Lincoln High School as the guaranteed pathway for students in the North (Lincoln, Ballard, Roosevelt, Nathan Hale and Ingraham attendance areas),
    • Garfield High School as the guaranteed pathway for students in the South (Garfield, Franklin and Rainier Beach attendance areas)
    • West Seattle High School as the guaranteed pathway for students in West Seattle (West Seattle and Chief Sealth attendance areas) and
    • Ingraham High School as a choice assignment option, available to all highly capable students who apply through Open Enrollment.

Then, for students designated as highly capable who enter high school in 2021-22 and beyond, the Board is considering a resolution that calls for serving these students in their neighborhood attendance area schools. Read more about the School Board Highly Capable Resolution introduced on January 17.

Since January 17, additional amendments and a substitute high school highly capable resolution have been put forward and will be considered. The January 31 is now posted.
