Student Forum Postponement Announcement

Student Forum Postponement Announcement | Nov 17

Parents,

This message is being read to students at 12:50 today:

After listening to concerns raised about the amount of support personnel specifically trained in supporting survivors of sexual assault and the need for a more clearly defined agenda for today’s forum, the decision has been made to reschedule the meeting. Speaking with parents and district officials, it became clear that these important concerns could not be resolved before this afternoon. We are now aiming to reschedule this important forum the week of November 29, but we have to confirm the specific date that works for key participants and district leadership is pursuing the additional support personnel that we have been encouraged to include.

The student organizer and the student groups working to address this issue are extremely disappointed with the postponement and they will remain resolute in their commitment to inform you of your rights and support survivors of sexual assault.

I was really looking forward to the opportunity to expand the dialogue with students about the important issue of how the school and district responds to sexual assault cases and what we can do in the future to prevent cases from happening in high school and earlier. If individuals have questions or want to discuss this before the rescheduled forum, I will make time to meet with you and counselors and APs are available as well. Talking together often builds mutual understanding and creates improved  plans going forward. I am committed to get this opportunity in the near future.
