On Monday, June 20, SPS will observe Juneteenth as an official district holiday. Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when those who were still enslaved in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free. Our district celebrates the historical legacy of African American freedom and the extraordinary power of hope in times of uncertainty.
