Congratulations to Teacher Librarian TuesD Chambers!

TuesD Chambers, Ballard High School, Named State Teacher Librarian of the Year!

TuesD Chambers, librarian at Ballard High School, was awarded the 2019 Washington Library Association’s (WLA) Outstanding Teacher Librarian of the Year Award. She was recognized at the WLA Award Reception in October 2019.

She was nominated by her colleagues in the district for creating a library space for all students and leading digital learning work. As part of her achievements, she started a learning cohort at Ballard High School focused on digital/blended learning that is centered on students, supported teachers in their practice, and turned the library into a space where all students feel welcome.

She also developed a newsletter specific to the great work happening across the district’s libraries and in 104 schools. The newsletter served as a connector in bringing her fellow librarians together, as she encouraged colleagues to share out their stories and practices in how they were serving students and families.
