    Seattle Public Schools Budget Update

The Legislative session in Olympia ended on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

The legislature passed a levy lid lift bill in the final state operating budget, such that Seattle Public Schools will be allowed to collect more local levy dollars to restore most of the projected $40M deficit for the next two years; some cuts to District central admin, and individual school staffing cuts related to declining enrollments will go forward despite this significant but still limited levy authority restoration. More information is  available on SPS Budget Update for 2019-20 webpage.

Ballard HS anticipates restoration of between 2 and 3 full time equivalents (FTEs), and will retain our full time librarian going forward. Some reductions in BHS staffing levels will still occur related to some current and prospective students moving to the newly opening Lincoln HS this Fall.

Thank you Ballard families for lobbying the legislature for to restore funding to public schools!

Thank you as well to our 36th Legislative District Senator Reuven Carlyle, Representatives Gael Tarleton and Noel Frame for their
    commitment to our students!
