Congratulations BHS AP Photography Students | Photographs now on Display in the Nordic Museum Virtual Exhibit!

"Norway's most famous painter, Edvard Munch, also experimented with photography. Exploiting faulty camera practices like light leaks and double exposures, he created revealing self-portraits that documented his life while exploring the boundaries of this new art medium."

"Now, over a century later, the National Nordic Museum has partnered with four Seattle High Schools; Ballard High School, Garfield High School, Nathan Hale High School and Roosevelt High School in this virtual exhibition that asks AP Photography students to respond to Munch's work with their own self-portraits."

Students took a virtual tour of The Experimental Self

Ballard Photography students took a virtual tour of The Experimental Self: Edvard Munch's Photography, on view at the Museum through January, with curator Pat Berman. Then, as part of their advanced placement studies, they created portraits that responded to Munch's process and self exploration.

The students also included an artist statement with each piece, which can be viewed alongside their work on the Photography Gallery.
