Football Info and Spring & Summer Calendar
    Posted on 02/01/2018
Ballard LogoDear Ballard Football Families and Friends,

It feels great to be sending out one of these mass emails again; it means spring ball and the season is around the corner!  The off-season has been going great! We had four students named Student of the Quarter for the second quarter which gave us six total for the first semester!  We also got to celebrate one Senior as he signed his letter of intent to play football at Portland State University! We expect a few more Seniors to sign with schools in the next month or two!

The off-season weight room program has been going very well. On average we have 45 players a day show up and work hard! I can't stress enough how important this is for a successful program. The majority of the players have set themselves up to have a great experience this coming season! In other big news regarding the weight room, Coach Colin Matthiesen has been promoted by our Athletic Director to become the Strength and Conditioning Coach for all Ballard Athletes! Coach is incredibly passionate about fitness and is very excited to share his passion with every program!

Attached is our Spring and Summer Calendar. These dates and times are similar to last year so I believe that there will not be any field conflicts. That being said, I have created the calendar on a Google Doc which helps make the calendar a living document. If any changes come up I will change it on the Google Doc. I will also do my best to communicate it directly with you. Please refer to the Google Doc for official dates and times.

June 29-July 2nd our Sophomore-Seniors will be going to Team Camp in Olympia. I will have more information on that in our April email. It is important that we get as many of our players to that camp as possible. The cost will be around $300. We will have a fundraiser available (info in April) for families that would like to lower the out of pocket cost of camp.

We have also contacted Steve Gervais Academy (SGA) to work with our QB, RB, and WR's on skill development. They will be hosting sessions at BHS and is open to other schools as well. The first session is this Sunday. Coach Gervais has agreed to cut the price for Ballard Football players to $10 per session instead of $35 which he charges other schools. These are optional training sessions but if you are able please have your player attend. Please don't let the cost be a deterrent. If you need assistance please let me know! Also, if you are able to donate a little extra to help cut the cost for other families please let me know! Attached is the dates and times for the SGA passing sessions.

Eight days ago marked the end of the second year of this version of Ballard Football. We are so proud of the progress the program has made and it would not be possible without the support of you all!

    Thank you!

    Ross Humphries
