    Ballard Cares

Ballard Cares is a partnership between the Ballard High School Foundation, the Ballard High School PTSA, and Ballard High School in support of BHS community members severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

We can't thank you enough! The generosity of the Ballard High School community shines again!

Ballard High School families have already begun receiving help through this partnership, and as a result of your generous donations:

Safeway Grocery Cards are being delivered, and more are on the way - one family lost a job on Monday and picked up a card on Tuesday!

Also providing grocery cards to students living on their own

A printer has been provided to a family with school age kids so they can share one laptop and print materials when in use by one sibling

$500 in Dick’s Drive In Certificates provided by Walt & Nan Spady of Dick's Drive In are being given out now so for example, a single mom can take 5 teenage boys out for a burger and a shake – we all need spontaneous good things during this time

A brand new limited number of Chromebook computers & supplies will be delivered to the PTSA for distribution next week

    Ballard Cares

March 2020 | We are in the midst of a pandemic that is impacting our lives unlike anything that has happened in generations. It is time for us to come together and demonstrate what the Ballard High School community is willing to do to help their neighbors.

There are many people in the Ballard High School community that were struggling before the outbreak of COVID-19 and their lives have now become even more difficult. In addition, the financial challenges that have beset much of the world have also had a substantial impact on many more Ballard families. Members of our community have lost jobs, had to close businesses, gotten sick, had family members move home and even had loved ones pass away. We love that Ballard is a community that comes together to support each other and when one of us is impacted, it impacts us all.

Today, Ballard High School, the Ballard High School PTSA and the Ballard High School Foundation are partnering to bring all of us together to make sure that those most impacted in our community know that Ballard Cares.

Ballard Cares is a fundraiser intended to provide monthly assistance for food and basic needs for families in crisis. Additionally, it will allow Principal Wynkoop to meet the emergent needs of families in our community that are struggling with the impacts of the pandemic. This includes items like food, clothing or gasoline, but could also include a printer to allow for digital learning, rental assistance, and more.

Please contribute whatever you can, whether that is $5, $50 or $5,000 and that money will go directly to supporting families in our community.

If your family is in need of assistance, please contact either your student’s counselor or an administrator at school to let us know what we can do to help.

Many of us are so fortunate to have our needs met on a daily basis, but now is the time for us to come together to ensure that EVERYONE in our community knows that Ballard Cares.

    With love,

Keven Wynkoop, Principal Ballard High School
Tom Eggert, President Ballard High School PTSA
Joel Niemeyer, Co-President Ballard High School Foundation
Paul Plumis, Co-President Ballard High School Foundation
Dick Lee, Executive Director Ballard High School Foundation
