    We Are Teachers | Minority Students entering STEAM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Mathematics) degrees should check out the site  The individual scholarships offered in the link are incorporated in the listing below. Minorities and women make up a small percentage of the science, engineering and architectural workforce. Let’s change this! We have some of the best STEAM scholarships available to students looking to pursue degrees in these fields. Share these with your students, parents, and fellow educators. Together, we can encourage and diversify the next generation of architects, engineers, creators, and innovators.

     4/27/18 District Four Masonic Scholarship  $2,000.00  12 Up to 4 scholarships available. Application available in Counseling Center. 1) US Citizen or Permanent Visa 2) attending a PUBLIC college. Students must submit transcript and application with a short statement of why applying for scholarship.
     4/27/18 Ballard Rotary 4 Year Scholarship   $1,500.00  12 2 scholarships awarded to Ballard seniors who have contributed to the community through service. Application available here and at the top of this page. Written or Video essay required. 
    4/29/18 Pointe Pest Control $750 12 No Essay or Transcript. "For this scholarship, do something good for someone else and include a note telling them to pass it on. Bonus points are awarded for including pictures. We want to hear what good deed you did to help your community."
     4/30/18 University Lions Foundation   $500 12  Simple application that only requires a paragraph from the applicant about himself/herself, family, and what career he/she would purse. Also include a short paragraph explaing the purpose of the Lions Club. Applications available in Cousnelign Center. Exclusive to BHS.
    4/30/18 HENAAC Scholarship Varies 12 Scholarship for Hispanic students entering STEM majors. 3.0+, entering a 2 year or 4 year institution.
     5/1/18 Elks Vocational Scholarship  $1,000  12 Local vocational scholarship to help with tuition, fees, books. Vocational programs can include nursing schools, technical schools (culinary arts, massage tehrapy, office management, fashion design, etc). US citizen, lettters of recc, transcript and 250 word statement. Applications available at or in the counselign center.
    5/1/18 Society of Women Engineers Varies 12 Female, 3.5+, entering Engineering or Computer Science.
     5/1/18 Washington Society of Professional Engineers  $1,500  12 HS senior, U.S. Citizen, 3.0 GPA for grades 10/11. Minimum SAT 600/Math and 580/Reading Writing. Applicant must have applied to ABET accredited engineering program. 1 letter of recc from Mathor Science teacher, 250 word essay about "My Interest in Engineering". Application available in Counseling Center. 
     5/4/18 Carkeek Scholarship Varies 12 The scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Seattle Public High Schools who will be attending publicly funded institutions of higher learning within the state of Washington, including junior colleges.  Scholarship awards are based on (1) high school scholastic achievement, (2) financial need of the student, and (3) recommendations of teachers and community leaders as to the student’s participation in school and outside activities.      5/16/18 University Kiwanis Pitzer/Weeks Memorial Scholarship for Voice Study  1000-2000  9-12 Up to 3 scholarships given to students based on talen and financial need. Schoalrship is for Voice Study and applicant must participate in concert on 6/16/18. Applications available in counseling center. LOR and ECAs needed. NO GPA or SAT.
     5/25/18  Windermere Scholarship  $1,000  12 2 scholarships awarded to Ballard seniors. Application available at the top of this page and in the BHS Counseling Office. Letter of Rec and essay required. Application and supporting materials must be MAILED to Windermere.
     6/15/18  Theta Xi Scholarship $500   12  For male students who will attend UW. Fraternity interest is NOT required. In honor of Benjamin Franklin, the Founding Father who was also an author, printer, inventor, scientist, and diplomat, we are offering three scholarships of $500 to outstanding gentlemen who will be starting their academic career at the University of Washington this fall that best epitomize Franklin’s spirit of intellectual curiosity and dedication to community.
     6/19/18 Delta Upsilon Scholarship   $1,500  12 For male students who will attend UW. Fraternity interest is NOT required. Application and information can be found at
     6/30/18 ZipRecruiter Scholarship  $3,000.00 12 Write a 500-800 word essay about a past or current job that has impacted your career aspirations OR describe your ideal post-graduate job.
