Please join me in congratulating our newest Assistant Principal on this honor for her work as a leader amongst the Athletic Directors in Metro. Carrie was extremely deserving of this honor.
In six plus years as Athletic Director, Carrie lead a process to create a Metro Athletics Handbook, she created the Student Metro Advisory Committee (SMAC) and created the Beaver Nation Athletic Awards Night.
Ballard High School
Ms. Carrie Burr was selected as the 2016-17 Metro League Athletic Director of the Year. This award is selected by her peers in the league and a truly esteemed honor. Her name was forwarded yesterday to the Sea-King District 2 Board for our District 2 athletic director of the year consideration. If selected, she would be one of nine finalist for the athletic director of the year award in the state of Washington. As Carrie moves into a new administrative role within Ballard High, this award should serve to highlight the work she has accomplished as the athletic director at your school.
In my six years here in Seattle, Carrie has exemplified true leadership and care for students and community. I also want to daylight her willingness to always follow district and WIAA rules. She started our league student-athlete advisor group(SMAC), and lead a work session last year at our state athletic directors conference(WSSAAA).
Carrie is a great person, and will truly be missed for her servant leadership and willingness to always choose the difficult right over the easy wrong within the educational based athletic framework. I wish her and Ballard High continued academic and athletic success.
